TOMATO-COCONUT CHUTNEY

Chutney is one my favorite condiment to have.A great accompaniment with idli and dosa, chutney's go very well with rice especially if its spicy. Although a simple coconut chutney is good enough to satisfy my taste buds ,every ones in a while a change is required. This tomato-coconut chutney had the right amount of tang and flavor which i loved. It was so great with some crispy dosas that i prepared.

This is my post on day 10 of Recipe marathon 2.

INGREDIENTS

Coconut - 1/2 cup
Tomato - 1 large size,roughly chopped
Onion - 1/2 a piece , cut into large pieces
curry leaves - of 1 sprig
Green chillies - 3 nos
Garlic - 1 large clove,cut into half

For Tadka:-

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
curry leaves - of 1 sprig
red chillies - 2-3 nos

METHOD
Heat some oil in a pan. When it gets slight warm add the garlic clove and fry it slowly until it turns brown and its raw flavor disappears.Remove and keep aside. In the same pan add the curry leaves, green chillies and onions and fry it until the leaves and chillies are crisp and onions are golden brown in color.Keep aside. In the same pan add some oil and fry the tomatoes as well until they loose their raw taste and smell. Now put everything in the blender, add salt and blend it smoothly.Pour some water if required to help it blend smoothly.Transfer it to a bowl.prepare the tadka and add it to the chutney.Serve with idli, dosa or rice.

Chtuneys are always the best side for dosas and idlies. Like the presentation with thin paper dosa.
